This guideline is intended for businesses located within Leesport Borough and Ontelaunee Township. If your facility or property is located within a different township or borough, please contact your local fire department for assistance.
The purpose of the Knox Box system, installed at businesses within the response area of the Leesport Fire Company, is to help eliminate unnecessary property damage that may occur when emergency personnel need to force entry during an emergency incident.
Who has access to Knox Box keys?
Each fire apparatus operated by the Leesport Fire Company is equipped with a secure key vault system that requires authorized personnel to enter an access code in order to retrieve the master Knox key for both Leesport Borough and Ontelaunee Township. Access to these codes is strictly controlled and monitored by the Fire Chief, Chief Officers, and Fire Marshal to ensure the highest level of security and accountability.
Are Knox Box keys shared with other agencies?
No. Leesport Fire Company does not share Knox Box key access with any outside agencies.
How do I purchase a Knox Box for my business?
To purchase a Knox Box for your business, please follow the ordering instructions provided in the official Knox Box ordering guide.
Please note:
- All Knox Box orders must be approved by the Fire Chief and Fire Marshal prior to processing.
- Once approved, you will receive a notification through the official Knox Company email system.
- After installation, you must contact the Fire Chief to schedule a time for the box to be opened so that your building keys can be securely placed inside.
Business owners are responsible for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of their Knox Box system. If locks are changed or keys are updated for the building, the business owner must contact the Fire Chief so the Knox Box can be opened and the new keys inserted.
